Mel B has a secret weapon

Scary hires a top lawyer to fight for her baby's rights

While Mel, who’s due to give birth any day now, should be resting up and taking it easy, her life has just become even more complicated.

The former Spice Girls singer is in the throes of a paternity war with actor Eddie Murphy, who she insists is the father of her unborn baby.

Now has spoken to friends and work associates of both parties and the row is turning even uglier.

After Eddie, 45, publicly declared: ‘I don’t know whose child that is until it comes out and has a blood test’, Mel went on the offensive and told friends that she was going to announce the DNA test results live on US television.

Mel, 31, was furious with the insinuation that she’d been sleeping with other people during their relationship last summer.

And she has a secret weapon: hotshot lawyer Don Engel, who charges over £250 an hour and will fight for a slice of Eddie’s £40 million fortune.

One source close to Mel says: ‘Eddie’s running scared....'
