Elton buttons up

Piano Man goes military for his birthday bash

We all know Sir Elton John likes a spot of dressing up, and he didn't disappoint at his 60th birthday bash, donning his best military tackle.

Walking hand-in-hand with partner David Furnish, who was dressed as a US Marine, Sir Elton celebrated his 60th year – and artist Sam Taylor-Wood's 40th – at a fancy dress party in the East End.

The black-tie affair at Shoreditch Town Hall was studded with other celebs including Hugh Grant, Sting and Thandie Newton.

Birthday girl Sam led the way in a floor-length 40s white evening gown, while Daniel Craig sported a pin-strip gangster suit and Stella McCartney wore a long army greatcoat.

Sorry, Elton, but we think you're more Dad's Army than military chic.
