Amy Winehouse in turmoil after split with chef boyfriend

Her dad say she may need rehab

Broken-hearted over the end of her nine-month relationship with boyfriend Alex, Amy Winehouse has been too upset to face her fans.

Spotted in Camden Tesco on Thursday – before being consoled by friends in a number of bars that evening - she looked as if she’d been sobbing her heart out.

Amy, 23, was due on stage at London's Shepherd's Bush Empire but the gig was cancelled at short notice.

One of the 2,500 fans Amy disappointed was Elton John.

‘Elton was looking forward to the gig as he’s a big fan,’ a spokesman tells the Daily Mirror.

Friday night’s show was also pulled as Amy continued on her '48-hour booze bender'.

On her website yesterday an announcement said: ‘Amy would like to apologise to her fans... and hopes they understand.’

Amy's dad Mitch says his daughter – who has now flown to New York to try and break the American market – is 'close to collapse'.

'I'm not ruling out rehab,' he tells The Sunday Mirror. 'Amy needs a break. They don't send you to rehab just because you've broken up with someone. There are other things. Amy needs a rest. Her workload is absolutely manic.'
