Daniel Radcliffe signs for Harry Potter final films

The new star of Equus will continue as the boy wizard

Daniell Radcliffe

Producers Warner Bros have confirmed that 17-year-old Daniel Radcliffe has signed up to complete the final two films in JK Rowling's Harry Potter series.

Harry Potter And The Order Of The Phoenix, the fifth film, is out in July. The sixth - Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince – will start filming in September for release next year and the last movie will be Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows.

Daniel has been playing the boy wizard since he won the part aged 11 in 2000 (with co-stars Emma Watson and Rupert Grint) and was in instant hit in the first film, Harry Potter And The Philosopher's Stone.

Each film covers one school year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry so Harry is meant to be 18 at the end of the series. As the final film is not due for release until 2020, Daniel will be 21.

The actor is currently appearing in stage play Equus in London's West End.
