Leona Lewis wins £5million US record deal

X Factor star hits the big time

Leona

Leona Lewis has won a £5million deal to record in the US with a top pop svengali.

The 21-year-old from London has been signed up by Clive Davis - the man behind Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys and Justin Timberlake.

And the deal will see her record five albums for worldwide release.

'It's great news,' she tells the Daily Mirror. 'I am just over-whelmed. I can't believe everything has happened so fast, from winning X Factor to coming to LA. It's everything I ever dreamed of - and more.'

Her mentor, Simon Cowell, says: 'Leona is the best X Factor contestant ever... We'll do everything in our power to make her an international star.'

It will make a pleasant change to see at least one X Factor winner doing well for themselves. Poor Shayne Ward...
