Salma Hayek's dog saves the day

Pup alerts the star to gas leak

Salma Hayek narrowly escaped what could have been a deadly situation, all thanks to her dog, Diva.

Just hours before the Golden Globe Awards on Monday night, the 40-year-old actress decided to take a nap at her home in California, not realising there was a gas leak in the house.

She tells US Weekly: 'I had a headache and went to lie down when Diva woke me up by grabbing my sleeve in her mouth and trying to pull me out of the house. Then I realised the gas was on.'

Salma later praised Diva as the sole reason she was able to make it to the Globes ceremony, where her show Ugly Betty received two awards.
