Brit girls scoop Golden Globes

English actresses lead the way in Hollywood

British talent cleaned up at Hollywood's first major awards ceremony of the year.

Emily Blunt won a Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actress In A TV drama for her role in the BBC's Gideon's Daughter - and Dame Helen Mirren scooped Best Actress In A TV drama for the title role in Channel 4's Elizabeth 1.

The boys did okay, too. Bill Nighy received Best Performance By An actor In A Mini-Series and House star Hugh Laurie picked up his accolade for Best Performance By An Actor In A TV drama

Sienna Miller may not have been up for a Golden Globe, but she could have taken an prize for style, turning up in a stunning white Marchesa gown to present an award.

She told red carpet host Ryan Seacrest: 'I looked at one dress, I'm a no-nonsense girl. Saw it, loved it, done!'
