Olivier Martinez: I've no idea about romance

Kylie's French boyfriend talks about love...

Shy actor Olivier Martinez claims he's no romantic but he's obviously doing something right.

'I have no idea about romance, he says. 'You’re either in love or you’re not. When you are, it’s the best feeling. I’m not a philosopher or a poet.

'I just try to be happy and make my woman happy too. I’m pragmatic. When you’re in love, you’re in luck.'

Girlfriend Kylie Minogue, who he supported through her battle with breast cancer, says he's 'the most honourable man' she's ever met.

Olivier, 41, tells Cosmopolitan that he tried to be selfless during her darkest days.

'I didn’t think about myself at the time,' he explains. 'All I did was try my best in the situation. It’s important to be honest with yourself. What you say should be what you do. Don’t just say. "I love you". Show it.'

Olivier himself had to face his own mortality when he was involved in a road smash some years ago.

'I broke my back in a motorcycle accident and came close to dying,' he recalls. 'Doctors told me I’d end up in a wheelchair but I was lucky.

'The accident helped me learn the true price of life. It put everything in perspective – money, fame. However, I’m no longer afraid of dying, I’m afraid of suffering.'
