Preston: Why I walked out on quiz show

He explains why he left Never Mind The Buzzcocks in a strop

After Never Mind The Buzzcocks host Simon Amstell made jokes about his wife Chantelle thinking M&S was upmarket, Preston wanted to thump him.

Instead he ripped off his microphone and walked out of the studio.

'I was very up for the kind of rib-poking that you get,' the Ordinary Boys singer told BBC Radio 1, 'but then he just started insulting my wife...

'If that was in any other situation I would have literally hit him and knocked him out.

'Obviously I didn't want to resort to those sorts of things, so I just had to remove myself from the situation.'

Preston, 24, hopes the walk-out will be broadcast because he is proud of his chivalrous behaviour and wife Chantelle – who he married in August last year – was very proud of him.

'She was really touched,' he admitted.
