Bill Ward: I feel sorry for Charlie

Actor sympathises with his love-rat character

Bill ward

He may be one of the most hated men in Britain but fictional character Charlie Stubbs has one fan - the actor who plays him.

Bill Ward, who joined Coronation Street in 2003, admits that he has grown fond of his love-rat character.

'I feel sorry for him and I've always felt sorry for him because no one ever sees his side of the story,' the 39-year-old tells the Daily Express

'He's not an out-and-out monster, he has a set of morals, they're just skew-whiff to the rest of us.

'I'm quite attached to Charlie and I'm going to miss him terribly, although I'm probably the only person in Britain who is!'

Catch Charlie's last moments on the street on Monday.
