The Beckhams WILL go to America for £1 million a week
Friday, 12 January 2007
He's looking forward to a £128 million paycheck over the next five years but Becks insists his move to LA Galaxy isn't motivated by cash.
Instead the 31-year-old dad of three says he wants to bring football to the kids.
'Soccer in America is only played up to a certain age, and that's where I want to take it to another level,' David Beckham said yesterday.
'Eventually it can go higher than anyone can probably believe in America.'
And the former England captain says he was determined to make the move before his age held him back.
'I didn't want to go out there at 34 years old and for people to turn around and say "He's only going there to get the money",' he explained. 'It's not what I'm going out there to do. I'm going to hopefully build a club and a team that has a lot of potential.
'I think that is what excites me.'
It's okay David, we believe you. We'd never be motivated by £128million either...
