Fiona Phillips: I turned down Bill Clinton for my son

Presenter gave up chance to interview former president for her family

Fiona Phillips

Fiona Phillips turned down a once in a lifetime interview with Bill Clinton for her son.

The GMTV presenter, who is celebrating 10 years hosting the breakfast show, says not meeting the former US president is her biggest regret.

'I've always wanted to interview him and kept saying so one morning,' she tells the Daily Mirror.

'Then I got a fax from his office inviting me to Warwick to meet him. But at that time I was breastfeeding Nat, and although I had breast feeding pumps and all sorts of paraphernalia, I couldn't leave him.

'My kids are my world and I'll remind him of what I missed when he's older.'

Fiona, 46, has two sons - Nathaniel, now seven, and Mackenzie, four, - with her husband Martin Frizell who edits GMTV.
