Ooh matron, it's Pete Doherty

Singer set to star in Carry On remake

He's better known for getting banged up than treading the boards, but it seems Pete Doherty could be making his acting debut in a remake of Carry On Cruising.

The Babyshambles singer, 28, is said to be in serious talks about his role in the film, in which he'll star alongside Kelly Brook.

The 1962 original starred comedy icons Sid James and Kenneth Williams.

An insider tells the Daily Star: 'Pete was approached about playing a wannabe rock star who works as a performer on a cruise ship. It's a rags-to-riches tale where in the end he gets it all - the lifestyle, the money and the girl. But it isn't 100% clear if he will give the go-ahead.'
