Elton John celebrates anniversary in Italy

Elt and David Furnish plan a romantic meal in Venice

They are renowned for throwing lavish parties, but Sir Elton John and David Furnish will celebrate their first wedding anniversary on 21 December with a low-key trip to Italy.

The couple - who threw a huge star-studded party when they tied the knot in a civil partnership ceremony last year - would like to share a romantic meal, served by dark-eyed Italian waiters.

Elton, 59, tells Heart FM: 'We're going to Venice for our anniversary to have a quiet dinner together. It'll be lovely. The first year has gone so quickly. We feel great and very settled.'

The couple recently attended the wedding of Little Britain star Matt Lucas and his partner Kevin McGee, and Elton says: 'I think they're as happy as we are when we did it. They've been together for a long time and they looked like they were having the time of their lives.'
