Eva Longoria to open Harrods sale

Desperate Housewife will join Mohammed Al Fayed on 28 December

Mohamed Al Fayed has asked Eva Longoria to open this year's Harrods winter sale.

The Desperate Housewives star, 31, is 'absolutely thrilled' at the prospect of throwing open the doors of the Knightbridge emporium to bargain hunters on 28 December.

'It is such an honour and a privilege to be asked,' she says. 'It's the world's most famous department store.'

Eva - who plays Gabrielle Solis on the hit US show - follows in the stilettos of Victoria Beckham, who opened the sale in 2002.

Girls Aloud also welcomed Santa to Harrods on 4 November this year.

No doubt all the girls get a mince pie for their trouble.
