Leona Lewis: I didn't think I was good enough for X Factor

Winner lacks confidence despite breathtaking voice

Leona Lewis

X Factor winner Leona Lewis has said she was surprised to make it through the first round of the talent show.

The 21-year-old from Hackney, East London, beat Ray Quinn in Saturday's final scooping a £1million record contract.

But when the show started in the summer, Leona doubted she'd make it past the first hurdle.

'I just thought it would be nice to see Simon and Louis and see what they thought of me,' she tells The Sun.

'I didn't think I'd get through. I didn't have much self-confidence and every time I got through to another round, I was speechless.

'But now that I'm here, to finally be recognised as a singer after so long, it's just amazing.'
