British actors up for Golden Globes

Dame Helen Mirren, Kate Winslet and Sacha Baron Cohen all nominated

British actors picked up a host of nominations for the Golden Globes yesterday.

Dame Helen Mirren, Dame Judi Dench and Kate Winslet all got shortlisted for best actress in the US film and TV awards.

They were nominated for their roles in The Queen, Notes On A Scandal and Little Children.

And Dame Helen is also in the running for best TV actress for Elizabeth I and Prime Suspect.

Other nominees flying the flag for Britain include Stephen Frears, who directed The Queen, Sacha Baron Cohen for Borat, Sir Ben Kingsley for Mrs Harris and Peter O'Toole for Venus.
