Cheryl Cole: WAGS are as bad as benefit scroungers

Singer slates footballers' wives in high-brow interview

It seems that Cheryl Cole is still on a mission to alienate herself from her fellow footballers' wives.

The Girls Aloud singer, 23, who's marrried to Chelsea star Ashley Cole, distanced herself from the other WAGS during this year's World Cup - prefering to keep a low profile with Victoria Beckham.

And now she's hit out at her counterparts again in an interview with high-brow mag The New Statesmen.

'They make it look really glamorous,' she says. 'You can go out and sit on your a*** and have all the jewels you want.

'It's a joke. These women don't cook a meal for their husbands, they don't clean, they have all the handbags they want but they never do a day's work. What kind of aspiration is that?

'Footballers' wives are just as bad as benefit scroungers, it's just a higher class of scrounger.'

Easy, Cheryl. There may come a day when you're glad of a few freebie handbags.
