Singer-songwriter Gwen Stefani, 37, loves celebrity scandal as much as the next woman.
‘I’m like everyone else who enjoys a bit of nasty gossip,’ admits the star. ‘Like, don’t let me open one of those magazines because I can’t put them down.’
With her distinctive peroxide hair and outrageous style, she's used to being snapped by the paparazzi. But when she was pregnant with six-month-old son Kingston, all the attention got a bit too much.
‘I got caught up in the whole celebrity-pregnancy thing,’ Gwen told Sunday Times Culture magazine. ‘For an entire year I had people outside my house, waiting for me to come out.
‘In LA, there’d be mornings where I’d be sleeping with my French doors open, in the heat, and I’d be woken up by chatter, I’d look out the there’d be these photographers, hanging out, having a coffee, ready to chase me around all day!’
The new mum, who’s married to former Bush singer Gavin Rossdale, has just released her second solo album, The Sweet Escape.
She is passionate about her career but sometimes feels torn between two worlds.
‘Anyone would want to do this,’ she reasons about being a pop star. ‘At the same time, though, I’d love not to work - to just sit at home with Kingston and eat pizza.’
