Cameron Diaz: I had fist fights at school

Actress knows how to take care of herself

Cameron Diaz

Tomboy Cameron Diaz, 34, insists her nose is slightly crooked because it's been broken four times – the first time when she was 12.

'I don't know what happened exactly. Someone hit me and I just fell flat on my face,' she says.

Fist-fights and punch-ups were the norm when she was a schoolgirl growing up in Los Angeles, but she didn't let it bother her.

'Our school was in the ghetto,' she tells Night & Day Live magazine. 'I mean, it was hardcore. There were metal detectors, bared wire and fences. It was a street-smart school.

'You had to be tough to survive and you had to know how to fight.

'Being a really, really skinny kid, I was extra determined to be tougher than the others. I could defend myself.'

If she ever got into a scrap with boyfriend Justin Timberlake, our money's on Cameron.
