Gwyneth Paltrow: Brits more intelligent than Americans

Actress slates fellow yanks

Gwyneth Paltrow reckons Americans as uncivilised and dull.

The actress, 34, who was born in Los Angeles, says: 'I don't fit into the bad side of American psychology. The British are much more intelligent and civilised...'

Gwyneth, who lives with her husband - Coldplay's Chris Martin - in West London, also prefers the way of life over here.

'I love the English lifestyle,' she admits. 'It's not as capitalistic as America. People talk about interesting things at dinner - not about work and money.'

The mum-of-two reveals her Angophile tendencies during an interview with Portuguese newspaper Diario de Noticias. She also says she likes living in London because it means she's near to her friend Madonna.

'Madonna is like an older sister,' she explains. 'Everything I have gone through she had 10 times worse and 10 times longer.

'She gives me good advice about how to say no and how to take care of myself.'
