Gary Barlow: Liam Gallagher hugs me in the street

Oasis frontman is a closet Take That fan

It's no secret that Oasis and Take That have never been the best of friends.

With their contrasting images, the bands were always going to rub each other up the wrong way.

But it seems that behind the scenes they are actually best mates - well, Liam Gallagher and Gary Barlow are at least.

'Liam is a top bloke and he's not as big a hardman as people think,' Gary Barlow tells The Sun.

'Whenever I see him he gives me a hug and we have a nice chat. We get on well. I know we've got completely different styles of music and all that but he's a nice guy.'

Let's hope they manage to stay friends on Sunday when the bands' latest albums will be battling it out in the charts for the No 1 spot.
