Boyband scoop Best Single but there's no mention of Robbie
Thursday, 15 February 2007
It would take a very hard heart not to feel moved by Take That's success at The Brits.
Gary, Mark, Howard and Jason scooped Best Single for their number one comback hit Patience and wowed fans with an emotional performance of the song.
The award marks the culmination of an amazing year for the boyband who've enjoyed a sell out concert tour and recorded a fantastic new album.
But despite rumours that they would dedicate their win to former bandmate Robbie Williams, who was admitted to a clinic in America this week after confessing to being hooked on prescription drugs, they chose to save their comments until they were backstage.
'We didn't thank Robbie because it is about his private situation,' Jason Orange later told The Sun. 'It's not for us to comment. He's going through a personal problem and we wish him the best - we love him.'
Robbie, who has collected 14 Brit awards throughout his career, was only nominated for one - British Live Act - this year. He was beaten to the gong by band Muse.
