'Borat' is beaten up after tricking passer-by

Victim didn't get the joke

Sacha Baron Cohen has been beaten up by a passer-by after he tried to play a prank as his alter ego Borat, the spoof Kazakh journalist.

He aproached the man in New York and said to him: 'I like your clothings. Are nice! Please may I buying? I want to have sex with it.'

But the man didn't see the joke and punched the 35-year-old comedian repeatedly in the face.

Sacha was eventually rescued by his pal Hugh Laurie who was with the star on his way to a bar in Manhattan.

A friend of Sacha's told The Sun: 'Sacha couldn't resist playing the fool as Borat, but picked on the wrong person.

'I guess this guy thought he was being attacked by someone unstable and lashed out. Sacha is very lucky he didn't get a much worse beating.'
