Beverly Hills 90210 stars reunite for DVD party

Shannen Doherty and Luke Perry were the only no-shows at the event

Monday, 6 November 2006

It was like old times back at the Peach Pit on Friday night, as the cast of Beverly Hills, 90210 – minus Brenda and Dylan – reunited in (where else?) Beverly Hills for the DVD release of the show's 1990 debut season.

"We always worked hard to stay together as a cast," Jason Priestley, a.k.a. Brandon Walsh, told USA Today. Priestley was joined by a five-months-pregnant Tori Spelling, who played Donna, along with Jennie Garth (Kelly), Ian Ziering (Steve), Brian Austin Green (David) and Gabrielle Carteris (Andrea).

Garth, 34, said, "I wanted to support the show that gave me all I have this day." Plus, she added, "I didn't want to be the one who didn't come."

That distinction fell to two main players: Shannon Doherty, who played Brenda Walsh, and Luke Perry, who played Dylan.

The stars, some of whom had seen each other at Priestley's 2005 wedding, almost didn't show up for the event – some cast members discussed skipping the launch because they won't benefit financially from DVD sales, which were not written into their original contracts, USA Today reports.

But Ziering, 40, helped bring the group together. "I called up the guys, and we all got together for lunch to talk about this whole DVD party," he told the paper. "The product of 9-0 is very powerful all over the world, and we wanted to make sure that everybody was recognized fairly."
