Sugababe Keisha Buchanan to go solo

Band member wants to go it alone

Keisha

Sugababe Keisha Buchanan has decided to embark on a solo career.

The pop starlet, 22, hopes to emulate Beyoncé Knowles by taking time out from the girl band to focus on her own ideas.

She is the only remaining original member of the trio after Siobhan Donaghy's exit in 2001 and Mutya Buena's decision to quit last year to have a baby.

The Push The Button star insists current bandmates Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah have similar ambitions but denies the band will permanently spilt, despite their solo aspirations.

She told The Sunday People: 'We all want to do solo careers. It is something we talk about a lot.

'We love what the girls in Destiny's Child did by going off and then getting together again later. I am sure things will happen naturally.

'I think we need to take a break soon so that I can enjoy being me.

'People have said to me, "Tell me about yourself", and all I could say was, "I'm a Sugababe."

'That really upset me for a long time.'
