Madonna jets off to New York with little David

Singer takes new son to America for promotional tour

David Banda may have only been living with new mum Madonna for a fortnight but he’s already getting to grips with her celebrity lifestyle.

The 13-month-old from Malawi was kitted out in Nike trainers and red string Kabbalah bracelet for his first flight to New York on Sunday.

He flew with new sister Lourdes, nine and brother Rocco, five, to the US from Heathrow.

They are accompanying their mum on a trip to promote her book, English Roses: Too Good To Be True.

Madonna, 48, is due to give several TV interviews and it’s thought they will also focus on David’s controversial adoption.

She flew to Malawi with her husband Guy Ritchie two weeks ago and brought David back to her London home.

The Malawi High Court has granted 18 months’ custody to the couple, despite usually asking people who are keen to adopt to stay in the country for a year so they can assess their parenting abilities.

Speaking on The Oprah Winfrey Show last week the star, who’s donated £1.7m towards setting up an orphanage in Malawi, said: ‘I wanted to go into a Third World country – I wasn’t sure where – and give a life to a child who might not otherwise have had one.’
