Clint Eastwood: I was a backward child

Shy Hollywood star never planned on being an actor

Clint Eastwood has branded himself backward.

The Hollywood legend has revealed he never planned to go into show business and is surprised by his success.

'I wonder how I got this far in life,' he says. 'Growing up, I never knew what I wanted to do. I was not a terribly good student or very vivacious. I was a backward kid.'

Clint even thought being an actor would ruin his life.

He tells US Parade magazine: 'I didn't want to be an actor. I thought an actor had to be an extrovert - somebody who loved to tell jokes. Someone who was bound to decay.'

The 76-year-old admits he now prefers to be behind the camera because he can dress as he pleases, but refuses to rule out starring in a movie again.

He explains: 'I like being behind the camera instead of behind it. I can wear what I want. Will I act again? I never say never.'
