Kylie Minogue hailed as the greatest gay icon ever

Madonna has to make do with seventh place in survey

Pop princess Kylie Minogue has been voted the greatest gay icon of all time by over 5,000 gay men and women.

Runner-up in the poll was Country and Western legend Dolly Parton and Sweden’s biggest export - ABBA - came in third place.
  
'Kylie Minogue epitomises everything a gay icon should be,' says John Sewell, spokesman for www.Onepoll.com, the global market research specialists who carried out the survey.

'She’s glamorous, fun, stylish and just a little bit kitsch.
 
'I’m sure all those nomimated will be proud to be labelled gay icons - it’s a real honour and can do wonders for your celebrity status.'

Peter Andre, who came in ninth place with wife Jordan, said last year: 'To me it’s flattering for anyone to come on to you no matter what sex they are.'
