James’s beautiful MTV win

Blunt bags two music awards

Love him or loathe him, James Blunt has proved he has a loyal army of fans by winning two gongs at the MTV Video Music Awards.

The ex-soldier,32, marched off with the accolades for Best Male Video and Best Cinematography for You're Beautiful.

American Pop Idol winner Kelly Clarkson won Best Female Video for her song Because Of You, beating off competition from the likes of Madonna and Christina Aguilera.

Pink won Best Pop Video for Stupid Girls while Black Eyed Peas won Best Hip-Hop Video for My Humps.

Despite being named in four categories, Shakira left with just one - Best Choreography for Hips Don't Lie.

Red Hot Chili Peppers received seven nominations, but had to make do with winning one, for Best Art Direction for Dani California.
