Nicole Kidman gives thumbs up for Tom to marry Katie

The first Mrs Cruise sends her best wishes to ex's new love

Nicole Kidman has reportedly phoned Katie Holmes to encourage her to go ahead with her wedding to Tom Cruise.

Former Dawson's Creek actress Katie, 27 - who gave birth to her and 44-year-old Tom's first child, daughter Suri, in April - is said to be nervous about marrying the Top Gun star as her devout Catholic parents do not approve of his Scientology beliefs.

'Nicole has made sure that she has told Katie how pleased she is they're getting married,' a friend says.

Cold Mountain star Nicole, 39, who was Tom's wife for 10 years, remarried herself this summer, tying the knot with country music star Keith Urban.
