Kate says Chris gave up booze to marry her

Their marriage is over but Kate Hudson pays tribute to husband

The day Kate Hudson fell for Chris Robinson, she was 21 and he was 33. But the attraction was instant and they married in Aspen on New Year's Eve 2000.

'What I didn't love was his drinking,' Kate tells The Sunday Telegraph magazine. 'When I met Chris, he would start at 10 in the morning.'

Kate, now 27, issued an ultimatum. 'I said I was done with the alcohol,' she recalls. 'I was done with being with a man who was a drinker. And it was amazing. He just stopped. The importance of alcohol just disappeared.'

Sadly, the couple, who had son Ryder Russell Robinson in 2004, have just decided to call it quits.

'In a weird way monogamy kind of isn't realistic,' says Kate. 'But it doesn't mean you can't do it.'
