Simon Cowell declares his vanity on radio show

The record company millionaire demands mirror as desert island luxury

Music supremo Simon Cowell has finally confirmed what we've all known for years - he really is the vainest man on the planet.

The X Factor judge told Desert Island Discs presenter Sue Lawley yesterday his luxury item would be a mirror because: 'I'd miss me.'

The shocked Radio 4 star exclaimed: 'I don't believe it, why?' Cowell replied: 'I'm on my own, no one around, I might as well have a mirror.'

Cowell's discs of choice were mainly ballads from the 1950s and 1960s. The only modern tune was Daniel Bedingfield's 2002 hit If You're Not the One.

No songs from X Factor contestants made his final line up.
