Olivier Martinez talks about Kylie's cancer battle

Kylie's boyfriend breaks his silence on the singer's illness

Friday, 11 August 2006

Kylie Minogue's boyfriend has spoken out for the first time about supporting the singer through her fight with breast cancer.

Dashing Olivier Martinez, 40, has revealed he did whatever he could to help his Aussie girlfriend through her ordeal.

'What doesn't kill you makes you stronger,' he says. 'When life tests you, you have to do your best. I'm there for her.'

And although Kylie, 38, has fuelled rumours of marriage by saying she'd love to have children with her French partner of three years, Martinez told France's Nice-Matin newspaper: 'I'm very happy the way things are.'

The actor, who was once linked to Angelina Jolie, also said it was not hard to see what attracted Brad Pitt to the Tomb Raider star.

The pair have always denied being anything more than friends but Martinez was still happy to sing her praises.

He said: 'Angelina's more than a ravishing beauty. She's an extraordinary woman who deserves to be loved for her talent and for her humanitarian work and all she does for great causes.'
