Gillian: My baby will come first

X-files Anderson gives first interview about surprise pregnancy

Actress Gillian Anderson has spoken out for the first time about her surprise pregnancy and has vowed to give her second child priority over her career.

The X-files actress, 37, is expecting her second child in January with boyfriend, British businessman Mark Griffiths. She already has an 11-year-old daugher, Piper, from her first marriage to director Clyde Klotz.

Father-to-be Mark Griffiths is the owner of a private car-clamping firm who was once linked to ex-Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. Gillian revealed she was pregnant in July - three months after splitting from her second husband of two years, filmmaker, Julian Ozanne.

Gillian admits she didn't concentrate on motherhood as much as she could have when Piper was born in 1994, because she was balancing parenting with playing Dana Sculley in sci-fi TV show The X-files.

She says: ‘The first time around, I was oblivious to the miracle and stages and the joy. I cannot remember Piper kicking.

'Was it the hours, the special-effects smoke, the dummies with maggots eating their eyes out. What distracted me from such an important and momentous experience?'
