Tracy quits Corrie

Actress Kate Ford admits she'll leave Coronation Street at the end of her contract

Corrie star Kate Ford will quit the soap once her contract runs out in 2007.

The actress, who plays ruthless Tracy Barlow, will say her final goodbyes in the spring but show chiefs are adamant she will not be killed off.

Producer Steve Frost says: 'Kate will be involved in a major storyline which will see her leave next spring. Kate is a great asset. Her character Tracy has left the cobbles before and we hope she'll return one day.'

Despite bosses offering her a massive deal to stay, Kate decided to turn down the money so she could try new projects.

The 29-year-old says: 'It has been the best time of my life playing Tracy Barlow. I cannot wait to see what the writers have got in store for her.'
