Macca wants to avoid court battle
Wednesday, 23 January 2008
Heather Mills and Sir Paul McCartney are reportedly close to reaching an out-of-court settlement in their bitter divorce battle.
Macca, 65, is said to want to avoid the case going to court next month.
Ex-glamour model Heather, 40, is planning to represent herself after splitting with her legal team and will argue that by marrying Paul, she became an unemployable hate figure.
Paul's lawyers have asked for discussions and he has talked things over with his ex on the phone.
‘One of the chats went on for at least 15 minutes, which is the longest they have spoken to one another in months and months,’ a source tells the Daily Mail.
‘It seems that the mood has definitely changed and they are both now ready to resolve things more sensibly.’
If the case does go to open court, Heather will be battling for a large chunk of Sir Paul’s estimated £750m fortune to compensate financially for her loss of earnings for the rest of her life.
The pair’s reps declined to comment.
