Benedict Cumberbatch says that Downton Abbey lacks sophistication - how very dare he?
Because he's - shock - had a go at poor old Downton Abbey. Not on, Benedict, not on!
According to reports in The Sun, Benedict has attacked Downton for not being ‘sophisticated' enough. Har-umph.
Now then, Benedict. We love you in Sherlock, you've been in tons of decent flicks, and now you're about to star in new Beeb period drama, Parade's End.
Set during the First World War, it's all about class issues and relationships (as is Downton).
But whilst talking about Parade's End, Benedict has taken a catty swipe, seemingly at Downton.
He says, 'We're not serving purposes to make some clichéd comment about, "Oh, isn't it awful the way there's this upstairs-downstairs divide".'
If I wasn't a telly addict who watches, er, everything, I probably wouldn't have noticed Benedict's snarky comments - but I have.
Bitter, Ben? Methinks you are. It's a bad move to go slagging off the National TreasureTM that is Downton Abbey.
I love Downton. Everyone who watches Downton loves Downton.
It's amazing. It's beyond successful, worldwide - and it stars incredible actors such as Maggie Smith, Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael.
It's addictive, it's sumptuous, and it's just about to commence its third series.
It's won two BAFTAs, six Emmys and a Golden Globe.
Now Benny, I'm sure Parade's End will be fab.
But I'd suggest you wait until the show is actually on TV and getting good reviews from both critics and, importantly, the public before you start being mean about your rivals.
Parade's End starts on BBC2, 24 August
