The X Factor: The dirty dozen

The X Factor: Jamie Archer makes the cut

The tears, the wailing, the gnashing of teeth and that was just me when I found out that John and Edward had made it through. The final 12 are now picked and it's definitely going to be an interesting X Factor this year.

So let's begin with the groups. John and Edward, Miss Frank and Kandy Rain made it.

Personally I would have put Project A through over Kandy Rain, but we shall see.

I think the right decision was made about Harmony Hood and De Tour, but seriously, John and Edward? Has Louis Walsh gone mad? Or tone deaf? The answer is clearly both.

Next up it's the boys and Cheryl Cole has chosen Rikki Loney, Lloyd Daniels and Joseph McElderry.

Ethan Boroain may have been the hottest contestant, but I think it's right he missed out as his singing wasn't as good as some of the others and I was never a massive Daniel Fox fan anyway. However, I feel really sorry for Duane Lamonte. The boys are all a bit samey and I think he would have made a great change.

Also I'm rather disappointed in Cheryl for having a dramatic pause when telling Daniel his news - rather unfair when you consider she then decided to give him the boot anyway.

Over to Dannii Minogue and the girls where she chose Stacey Solomon, Lucie Jones and Rachel Adedejij to go through to the live shows.

I think the right decision was made on all of them. I really like Stacey and Rachel [although not sure about the new hair] and I get why Lucie is a very good choice.

I also have a slight apology to make to Dannii. Not only did her face move. Yes, really. She showed more emotion than Cheryl did when delivering the news. She also had by far the better wardrobe this weekend. I know, I'm shocked I'm saying this, but I may be moving to Team Minogue. Who would have thought it? Don't worry I'm sure I'll have changed my mind by next weekend.

Finally it's the strongest category in my opinion with Simon Cowell's over 25's. Simon's lucky three were Jamie Archer, Olly Murs and Danyl Johnson.

I think any of these three could win the show. Olly's got the personality [and my vote if they keep playing the Minder theme tune behind him at all times] Danyl has got the showmanship and Jamie [who I think may be my favourite] has the voice.

However, I do feel very sorry for Nicole Lawrence and Treyc Cohen who were brilliant although it was Daniel who nearly made my stone cold heart almost melt when he didn't make it. I felt so bad for him, but I think Simon was right in such a strong category to give someone else their first shot. I still feel bad for him though.

So to the live shows with the added bonus of live performances from Alexandra Burke and Robbie Williams. Watch out Strictly, The X Factor juggernaut is now full steam ahead.
