Can someone please explain to me how Ulrika managed to win Celebrity Big Brother. No, seriously, I mean it, I am very confused right now.
I was sure that Verne was going to win. The crowd loved him. He’d not really offended anyone and he had also been quite funny. To be honest I wouldn’t have been too shocked if it had been Terry, Coolio or Ben who had won either. But Ulrika?
I don’t think it was fixed like some people have suggested. Seriously, if Channel 4 were going to fix the show would they honestly have gone for Ulrika? She may have had the biggest fee, but that doesn’t mean anything. I can only assume it was a vote to back the ‘all men are b******s' campaign voiced by the women in the house. Sadly that meant moaning Ulrika clinched it.
While I didn’t blame her, like some people have, for going out to work and leaving a small child at home, her constant tears about being apart from her children didn’t make me feel that sympathetic towards her as she had chosen to do so.
However, what did annoy me was the distain she showed for the whole affair [especially straight after clinching victory on BBBM]. While I refuse to be annoyed at her for only being in it for the money, like Terry she could have at least thrown herself into the series and made the most of the time she was there and - most importantly – tried to entertain us rather than scowling the whole time.
The girls weren’t all bad, but the reason I come down firmly on the men’s side in all this was that they were the more entertaining. Coolio may not be someone you would want to introduce to your mother, but he was a great housemate, as was Verne with his drunken antics, Terry with his honesty and even Ben made me smile a few times and gave the house a little bit of eye candy. Meanwhile, Mutya seemed to not understand that the role of BB was to humiliate them at every turn, Michelle’s tears were irritating and unfounded and Lucy was just dull and a S*********n supporter. Something I alone cannot tolerate. The only girls to pick the side up really were Tina who, although highly irritating and crass, did supply some entertainment and even La Toya threw herself into the experience.
No matter the final outcome to me the boys are the real winners this year. They may not have been the nicest bunch, but they made me laugh the most. Now there’s just a few short months to wait until the real freak fest starts, goodbye summer, hello BB!
