Dexter - our friendly neighbourhood psycho’s back

The chilling killer is welcomed by guest blogger Gillian Crawley

From time to time we all need a friend like Dexter (Michael C Hall).

Someone to whom we could say: ‘The world would be a much better place without this person in it’ and soon the bane of your life would be sinking to the bottom of the sea in a black bin bag with just a couple of heavy rocks for company.

Everyone’s favourite serial killer Dexter Morgan is back for a second series on ITV1 (Thursdays, 10.35pm) and he has big problems.

Two divers discovered Dexter’s disposal method of choice and it’s clear he’s been a lot busier than we thought.

There are scores of bodies off the Miami coast and, thoroughly deserving victims though they were, that’s not going to cut much ice with the police.

Speaking of ice - it’s been 38 days, 16 hours and 12 minutes since Dexter executed his brother Rudy aka the Ice Truck Killer and he’s desperate to kill again.

Unfortunately his nemesis Sgt Doakes (Erik King) suspects that Dexter isn’t the hero everyone thinks he is and is on his tail.

If that weren’t bad enough Dexter’s girlfriend Rita (Julie Benz) is devastated that her ex Paul’s been killed in a prison brawl even though he used to beat her up.

Like a true psychopath Dexter’s baffled by her emotions – if only she knew the trouble he had framing Paul and getting him locked up in the first place. There’s just no pleasing some women.
