On The X Factor the fact viewers don't vote for talent makes my blood boil. However, over on BBC1 I would urge you to do the opposite when watching Strictly Come Dancing. I LOVE John Sergeant and beg you to forget the fact that he is clearly rubbish at dancing and vote for him because he is lovely and cheeky and his partner Kristina is a fox! He isn’t going to win, but I would love to keep his cheeky smile in the competition for a little bit longer.
I know they claim Strictly is a talent show, but because it's one with celebrities rather than normal people 'living their dreams ©Simon Cowell 2006' it also means the usual talent rules don't apply until at least round six and usually the most talented win anyway.
Apart from John I don’t really have a favourite this year. I think Tom Chambers is v good and I’m a fan of his partner Camilla, so I’d like them to do well. However, at the same time I think Lisa Snowden is great and Brendan has cut back on the sleaze. Also I’ve met Lisa Snowden on numerous occasions and she is possibly the loveliest celebrity ever. It annoys me when people say that all she talks about is how she dated George Clooney. Firstly, she can’t win because if she didn’t answer questions about him in interviews people would moan that she was too secretive, then they still moan when she does. Secondly, if I had dated George Clooney I would be shouting it from the rooftops and any woman or gay man who says they wouldn't is a liar.
All the others are very good dancers, so it’s a toughie this year. I think Austin may still do it, but the fact he dropped down the leader board and Rachel Stevens [who is also lovely, but possibly the most boring person I have ever spoken to] also found herself in the bottom two despite putting in a good performance, shows it's still anyone’s game. How exciting!
PS: Heather Small got kicked out, but then again we all saw that coming now didn't we?
PPS: May I give special mention to my friend's facebook status on Saturday night which read: 'Mandy is witnessing The Jam's Town Called
Malice being used as music for the Paso Doble on Strictly Come Dancing,
and doesn't know whether to laugh or cry' and point out that last series they did a wonderful dance routine to the White Stripe's Seven Nation Army. Inspired!
