Britain's Got Talent: Sexy Magic!

Britain's Got Talent finally gets better thanks to George Sampson, although no thanks to The Deans Of Magic...

Britain's Got Talent: George Sampson

Britain’s Got Talent has finally picked up the pace. Tonight’s show actually had some good acts.

Hoop La La were robbed though. I should have hated them, but the campest act in the competition, nay the world, won my heart. They were brilliant! Any man who can hula hoop in the air wins my vote every time. I would pay to watch Hoop La La, so I have no doubt that not making it to the final will do them no harm.

Irresistable [the three girls doing a Puppini sisters style act] were really good too and while I wasn’t massively into Strike and their karate moves, I get that they were good and doing something different. Meanwhile, George Sampson was in a league of his own and although there was clearly no need for Amanda Holden to blub, he was brilliant and genuinely deserved it.

Now on to the rubbish. Charlie Green was good and had a nice voice, but the song he had to sing was appalling. The Urban Gypsys were OK, but in serious need of support bras to avoid serious injury. Somebody call Gok Wan quickly, he’s the only man I know who could tame ’bangers’ like that.

I’m getting a bit sick of dodgy dance troups though and the fact there seems to be some unwritten rule that if the members are below the age of 14 we’re supposed to be nice at all times. I don’t care, they were so pink I thought I might puke. Well done for dancing in time and looking cute, but points deducted for doing a really dated routine.

However, the worst act by a long shot was The Deans Of Magic. I’m not a bg fan of magic acts at the best of times [Derren Brown aside, obviously] but The Deans Of Magic took it to a new low [although Declan Donnelly saying ‘sexy magic’ is one of my favourite things ever]. It was disturbing. What didn’t help their reader’s wives style magic act was the fact that it was just plain dull. Wrong, wrong wrong.

Experience the camp joy of Hoop La La for yourself...
