I think I must have been watching a bit too much Torchwood recently, because the return of Doctor Who just seemed a bit, well, tame.
Now I know it’s a family show and quite frankly I don’t want all the sauciness of Torchwood infiltrating it, but weren’t the alien’s in the first episode just a bit too cute? And the story a bit too dull?
Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoyed it and it seriously pains me to say this, but Catherine Tate wasn’t as annoying as I predicted. She’d even toned down the shouting and gurning a bit.
It was also nice to have a Doctor’s assistant who didn’t fancy the pants off him for a change. But for me it was just lacking a bit of oompfh.
I'm also a little annoyed with the BBC. You see I went to the preview screening of the first two episodes on Tuesday evening and unless I nodded off for five minutes they deliberately edited out the part where we saw Rose Tyler.
To me this just isn't cricket, especially when you consider they showed us the first episode of The Apprentice and as far as I’m aware not one journalist gave the ending away before the first show. Very disappointing.
I’ve got a feeling the series will pick up what with the return of Rose and Martha and pretty much everyone else ever featured. I also love Bernard Cribbins. I also saw a peek of Davros in the trailer, which can only be a good thing. Hopefully.
