I love Louis Theroux, he's got a kind of geeky sexy thing going on. OK, so maybe it's just me, but even if you don't swoon as I do you can't help but enjoy his out-of-the-ordinary documentaries.
Louis Theroux: Under The Knife was a classic example of Louis' subtle interview technique. The Americans quickly fall for his goofy British charm and he's careful enough not to offend them while asking extremely personal questions.
I'm not the biggest fan of plastic surgery and at first enjoyed laughing at the freaks who underwent numerous procedures, but Louis actually made me feel a bit sorry for a lot of these lost souls who needed therapy much more than a new nose.
Particularly upsetting the girl who's on/off boyfriend was suddenly interested again once she'd has lots of surgery. You wanted to shake her and tells her to kick him to the kerb [sorry got a bit Jerry Springer there] and love herself and not become a scary clone. But at the same time as berating her I wanted to give her a hug too.
Most revolting was the stylist who advocates surgery and would take her clients to clothes shops get them to try on clothes then say: 'Well if you had the surgery, that dress would hang right...' What a parasite.
If anything was to ever put you off surgery the graphic scenes of procedures was enough [the sounds of dry heaving from my boyfriend didn't exactly help]. Maybe I'll put that lipo on hold for now. Thanks Louis.
