Sex And The Secret

Introducing Samantha's self help manual

Kim Cattrall

With the countdown to Sex And The City: The Movie underway, SATC hysteria's reaching fever pitch in the Now office. I've had a sneak preview of the frou-frou frocks in the new flick, and it's all about grown-up glamour and 40-something sophistication.

The opening scene of Sex And The City: The Movie sees Samantha on the beach reading The Secret, Rhonda Byrne's self-help manual. Now, I :::LOVE::: a self help book. He's Just Not That Into You – the relationship manual spin off from the Sex And The City episode of the same name - could have been written for me, and I'm obsessed with The Secret right now.

I first heard about The Secret over a cappuccino and cheesecake in a café on Broadway in New York. Then an American rockstar I was out for dinner with recommended it over sushi. But it was when Nicky Clarke's PR director, my good friend Emma, called me and told me how it would change my perspective, I knew it was time to look into it and I would recommend it to anybody.

Incorporating advice from a random range of philosophers, psychologists, authors, motivational speakers and quantum physicists, there are strategies for relationships, health, and money, but what stands out for me, is the Ask, Believe, Receive school of thought, which is the principle that you can turn fantasy into fact by putting your intention out there, believing it's a reality, acting like it's already yours and the universe will deliver it for you.

Another trick I've taken from The Secret is creating a Vision Board, an image-based wish-list that's the first thing I see when I wake up in the morning and the last thing I see before I go to sleep.

Samantha's not just a pretty face, and the next time you see me I'll be rocking a £33,000 Tiffany & Co diamond engagement ring in my fabulous new office in New York.
