Queen Of Starting Over

Beverley Knight rocks the Royal Albert Hall

Alison Tay

The highlight of the action-packed weekend I’d lined up as a birthday present to myself and one of my best friends Hannah, who celebrates her birthday today – Happy Birthday Hannah!! – was the queen of UK soul and R’n’ B Beverley Knight’s Music City Soul London tour date at the Royal Albert Hall.

The last time I’d seen Beverley live was when she was singing Gary Barlow off the stage and putting Take That to shame on their comeback tour, so it was amazing to see her powering through those soul classics and money notes.

Best moment of the concert for me was her version of Irma Franklin's Piece Of My Heart and, as always, I cried my way through Shoulda Woulda Coulda.

And if having the best seats in the house wasn’t enough, we also hung out at the after-show where Beverley finally introduced me to her adorable new boyfriend James!

He certainly gets my seal of approval xxx
