Don’t be fooled by the rocks that I got

If you’re a stranger to Planet Fashion, you may think I spend most of my time being chauffeured around New York in the back of a limo…and you’d be right!

Alison Tay in New York

My trip to New York to guest present an episode of J-Lo’s Glow After Dark Show got off to a decidedly unglamorous start when my private jet broke down. I know. You couldn't make it up! Fortunately, as my dear friend Jon pointed out when I My Spaced him from the airport, I wasn’t at a cruising altitude of 30,000 feet when it happened.

Once I finally landed at JFK, headed straight to Glow After Dark HQ, a trendy loft apartment in a secret location in SoHo, where Stateside celebrity stylist and my co-presenter in crime, the gorgeous Jorge Ramon, introduced me to the five Glow After Dark girls – who I’ll introduce to you later - and I set them the challenge of dancing like they’re Jenny from the block.

Being flown to New York to call a dance-off sounds like it’s straight out of Zoolander, and far beyond my wildest dreams, and the girls are fighting for the chance to win a $100 gift card for the J-Lo library on iTunes, five free dance classes at the Broadway Dance Center – my favourite dance studio in New York - and a year’s subcription to Now magazine.

Don’t want to spoil the surprise but the rest of the day involved hurtling around town in a limo, giving the Glow After Dark girls some one-on-one styling time to turn them into fly girls, and hitting the dancefloor at The Manor, one of Manhattan’s hottest nightspots till the early hours of the morning! And trust me, those girls really know how to party!
