I went as Reese Witherspoon as June Carter Cash in Walk The Line in a vintage gingham dress I bought in Urban Outfitters in Dublin just after I’d seen the Johnny Cash biopic.
Buying a frou frou, green, pink, red, and yellow checked dress seemed like a really good idea at the time but in the cold light of day, I could only get away with wearing in on a picnic in the 1950s or paying homage to the style icon and musical genius who wrote Ring of Fire.
Putting my hair in rollers for June CC’s authentic country ‘n’ western bouffant took so long I was an hour late for the party! Because I’d been in New York, I haven’t made cheerleading practice for ages, so it was really good to hook up with all the cheerleaders again. They’re the fun, foxy, fabulous friends you’ve always wished you had!
On a serious note, I was really upset to hear one of the most accomplished dancers on the squad, had an awkward dismount from one of our tougher stunts, the Elevator, in class on Saturday.
(Google it! It’s like a cheerleading human pyramid! Cheerleaders have to be acrobats and gymnasts as well as dancers while having to pump pom poms and look hot at all times!)
Get well soon, hun! You’ll be back doing split lifts in no time! xxx
