Actor announces happy news on blog

Matthew McConaughey and partner Camilla Alves announced the pregnancy in June

Matthew McConaughey has become a dad for the second time.

The actor's partner Camila Alves gave birth to a baby girl yesterday afternoon.

Little Vida weighed a healthy 7lbs 7oz.

'"Vida" is Portuguese for "life" and that's what God gave us this morning,' Matthew, 40, wrote on his blog.

'Camila's recovering wonderfully and we are both truly honored to welcome this little lady into our family.

'Thanks for all of your well wishes and prayers along the way, another blessed day, we give thanks.'

Matthew and Camilla, 26, who have been together since 2006, are already parents to 17-month-old Levi.
